Betsy Isaacs' first landscape design project was in her own backyard: her 30,000-square-foot property in Herndon, Virginia. Channeling her lifelong passion for gardening and the outdoors, Isaacs chopped, raked, shoveled, and planted the entire landscape. Soon she was in the design business, and to date she has created more than 100 residential landscape designs.
Betsy’s approach to every landscaping project combines solid design principles with dedication to customer service. Her ability to do this well comes not just from knowledge gained from horticultural training courses, books, and videos, but from something of even greater value: Thousands of hours of “hands-on” experience. Never afraid to get her hands dirty, Betsy actively participates in bringing every landscape design to life.

Whether it’s the garden of a modest suburban home or the complete grounds of a high-end estate, Betsy goes through the same process to help clients achieve their landscape dreams.
The result is a user-friendly "do-it-yourself" design plan. The plan includes drawings and shopping lists for clients who need guidance, but who want to do the shopping, planting, and other work themselves — something Betsy relates to! But she does offer installation supervision as a service, just in case.
Since 2005, Isaacs Designs has partnered with HD’s Lawn Maintenance and Landscaping, also based in Herndon, Virginia, as their landscape designer.
